Dear Professor:

«IP4,0»We are here for a week, enjoying not merely a well‑earned rest, but great and unexpected happiness.  Everything augurs perfectly for a most successful married life,«FN1.××Jones married Katherine Jokl on 9 October 1919 in Zurich. » which means for me a new life altogether in both happiness and inspiration to activity.

I need not say what a joy it was to me to see you again, and to find you dealing so nobly with your difficulties.  My thoughts will be constantly with you this winter, you may be sure, and we shall both look forward to seeing it a past thing.

About business matters I have written to Rank, and he will doubtless inform you about them.  Sachs points out, and I think quite rightly, that as regards the Vereinigung, Ferenczi has only the right to transfer the duties, not however the office ‑‑ which he could only lay down to either the congress or to the Obmänner.  In English this would be expressed by the words "«MDUL»Acting«MDNM» President", and perhaps you will be good enough to ask him to write to the Obmänner in this sense.

I want to thank you very deeply for all the trust you have shewn in me, which I appreciate more than anything.  You know it will be not misplaced so far as my will goes, and as to capacity I can promise that I will give all my best ‑‑ more no one can do.  I look forward to my responsibilities very seriously, but without apprehension, being well‑informed of the general situation and having the best friends around me.

Soon after reaching London I should have a great deal to report, but from Lugano‑Paradiso you will not expect a long letter.

Please give my best thanks to your wife and Anna for their kind hospitality and friendliness

and to you I extend, as ever, my loyal greetings  Yours affectionately  Ernest Jones.
