«IP0,0»Dear Professor,
«IP4,0»Your telegram gave the cheerful intimation that you are again able to take an active interest in affairs, even though you are not yet in a position to participate in them directly. Your concluding words about the Press were what one would naturally expect and have put fresh heart in us. But the question is whether «MDUL»you«MDNM» realise how great the danger to the Press actually is and how urgent. I tried to make this clear to Rank about ten days ago, and wonder if he has had the opportunity to show you this critical letter.«FN1.××Jones to Rank, 18 October 1923, is a lengthy letter containing Jones's plea for establishing a solid market in the United States without which the Press would not be able to survive.» We felt that the only remaining hope was for one of us to travel to Vienna as soon as you are well enough.
«IP4,0»With all best wishes Yours always affectionately Ernest Jones
«IP0,0»«MDUL»P.S.«MDNM» Rickman and Mrs. Riviere know about your operation, but no other member of the Society.
