Dear Friends:

I begin by again expressing warm thanks to Abraham for the excellent way in which he 
conducted our tour and smoothed out all difficulties. For my part I found the Con-
gress both exceedingly enjoyable and instructive; it will be for ever a pleasant mem-
ory, and is one more proof of the prac- tical value of our Committee.

On returning I found promise of a stormy Business Meeting which takes place on 
Thursday, chiefly owing to extreme energy on the part of Dr Cole2, who has sent in a 
number of controversial resolutions. How- ever I called on her and hope through person-
al influence to be able to calm matters. She has instituted a series of small groups 
to which I am opposed, as they may heighten the disruptive tendencies by forming 
cliques. We are countering by proposing fortnight meetings instead of monthly 
ones, so as to strengthen the unity of the Society.

I found thirteen applications for analysis waiting, including patients from 
Egypt, America (two), Rhodesia, and India, so that I shall be able to help less 
fortunate colleagues.

Tomorrow I give a lecture in Birmingham. I have been much occupied with moving 
to a new house, and shall be able to give more news next time after the Business 
and the Annual General meetings. The B. Sq. Clinic is, as you know, closed, and 
Miss Turner is opening one on her own lines. No news from Brill.
