Dear Friends:
Little news. At our last meeting Mrs. Brierley read a very good paper on the
“Difference between the Sexes.” The level of our papers and discussions is distinctly
rising. At the same meeting Abraham joined Ferenczi and Rank as an Honorary Member of
our Society, and has doubtless been notified of this by Bryan.
The Press affairs unfortunately are not going well, mainly because of the diffic-
ulties of printing in Germany, and the January Journal has not yet appeared.
Kempf has written to ask if he may see me in September to discuss his position.
I have just heard that Ferenczi also is coming to England this month, so we
have a double pleasure in store.
I am doing my best to pour oil on the troubled waters in America, but the situation
there is not agreeable. I find it monstrous that personal factors should be pushed into
scientific movements like ours.
Perhaps Rank, as being the nearest, will act as Secretary and make the arrangements
for the August meeting (exact date, name of place, reservation of rooms, etc)?
With all good wishes for the holidays,
Ernest Jones.
