    PROF. DR. FREUD
    WIEN, IX. BERGGASSE 19.

    May 29.th 21

    Dear Jones

    I herewith enclose the letter
    I got from Brill after
    6 months’ waiting and
imploring, but I did not get
it before I wrote in the
    most plain and brutal
    way. You will judge for
    yourself, how deeply he has
    deteriorated. I intend no
    answer for the present.
    Send the letter back after
    having taken an extract
    of it.

    To be sure the nonsense
    about the appointing
    of subeditors is his doing.
    Let me propose to you,
    that you should answer
    Stern, that there is a
    misunderstanding preval-
    ent, that we can give
the N. Y. Society no other

    rights than what proved satisfactory
    to the London one, that
    we were glad to accept
    Frink and Brill, but
    propose to replace Farnell
    by Blumgart or Obern-
    dorf, as he (the president)
    may choose.  I had talked
    over this matter with
    Frink.

    Happy to hear your
    family is thriving so well
    and you restored to
    good health.  I am worn
    out by the excessive
    heat here.

    Affectionately yours
    Freud
