Dear Jones

Looking at the 7 volumes
on my shelf – three more
to be expected – I feel amazed
what a big lot I have
written during my short
life. I cannot find out where
the utterance you quote may
be sought. Nor is it necessary
you should attend to it.
It must belong to the period
preceding Totem and Taboo
and has since lost its importance.

I feel rather tired by
6 months of strenuous work
or what appears to me as
such in my present con-
dition. The concomitant treat-
ment for my plate – never to
be finished it seems – is for
something in the effect.

Cordially yours
Freud
