Dear Professor,
«IP4,0»I was very happy to hear how much the holiday had improved your general state, and I expect that this has also benefitted from the Hungarian news.
I am fully in accord with your opinion of Rank, and have boundless admiration both for his capacity and his character. We are in regular communication over our mutual affairs, and are both confident about them in spite of the difficulties.
It has not seemed advisable to take definite steps in establishing the English Press until I have been abroad again, but I think this delay will be to our advantage. Caution would recommend us to contract with a publishing firm in London, but I am so anxious to have a Verlag here as a filial of the International that I am fighting hard for the possibility; hence the delay.
This is my third letter to Gastein. You should have got the other two,«FN1.××One of these letters is missing.» and I trust this will be forwarded.
I am trying to get from our Government a trade permit to visit Germany and Austria as a publisher, and shall know next week if I am successful. I propose to leave here on the 24th for Basel (D. V.!), where I will meet Sachs. Then a week or more with him, and a try for Garmisch, accompanying you to Vienna to spend a week there with Rank. That is the ideal! How far it will succeed is not altogether in my hands. In any case I will go to Switzerland, and in the worst event perhaps you could come to Constanz for a couple of days in the middle of September, ‑‑ it is not far from Munich.
I am re‑writing an old book on «MDUL»Treatment of the Neuroses«MDNM»,«FN1.××Jones (1920b).» which will be finished tomorrow; it should come in very appropriately just now for the medical profession here, which is shewing great eagerness for our work. There is a great demand for your books in German.
I hope that your wife also has recovered from her unpleasant experiences.
Yours always affectionately Ernest Jones.
