Dear Friends:
The Vienna Rundbrief has not arrived. Nor have I had any news for some time of
Professor’s health. I trust that this is progressing satisfactorily, but should be
glad, l. Otto, to have definite news of it, as well as about the decision on which
the continued existence of the Press depends.
I am sorry that Sándor is unable to accept my apology and explanation. Although
I cannot agree with many of his statements, I see no use in this polemic unless he
himself insists. I willingly accept Karl’s suggestion, and am sending Sándor, to-
gether with a private letter, a copy of a proposed communication to Mitchell. When
we reach agreement on this, it can be circulated among the Committee before being
published.
In the last meeting Flügel read a most excellent paper on Polyphallic Symbolism
(dreams, myths, and character) in relation to the castration complex. We intend to
publish it in the Journal.
Your preface arrived safely, l. Karl, and I have attended to the points you
raise in connection with it. The other promised communications, on Moscow and the
Congress, have not yet arrived.
Having had only one week’s holiday this year I propose to take another from
Dec. 23 to 30, so it is unlikely that I shall have anything to make a Rundbrief on
Jan. 1.
With both Christmas and New Year’s greetings to all, and best wishes for an
enjoyable interruption in the work,
Ernest Jones
