Dear Professor,
«IP4,0»I read your personal news with mixed feelings, but the outstanding fact is the gratifying one that the outcome is so satisfactory. It is sad to think of your deprivation from tobacco, for I know how much that means. I suggested to Eitingon that he might be able to procure some de‑nicotinised cigars in Berlin and perhaps he has done so. I am trying to find some here, but so far have only come across de‑nicotinised cigarettes and am doubtful whether those would prove acceptable.
I saw Dr. Blanton yesterday and had a fair impression of him. No doubt he will be of some positive value to us, but I am still looking forward to the day when some young American will spend three years in Europe deepening his knowledge to the desirable degree. I advised him of course to apply for membership to the New York group.
With renewed wishes for a successful visit to Berlin,
Yours always, Ernest Jones
