BRITISH PSYCHO‑ANALYTICAL SOCIETY
25 May 1925 London W1
Dear Professor,
The Bank sent an apology for their mistake which I at once forwarded to Anna.
Many thanks for your comment on the McDougall matter. I fancy that the key to his letter was the last sentence in which he expressed the hope that the Journal would review more favourably the second half of his book on Psychology «FN1.××The book had been partly reviewed, see Jones (1924h).» He seems to be struggling with a great deal of respect for psycho‑analysis. In the meantime, however, since writing to you last, I find that he has published two more papers directly on psycho‑analysis in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology and the British Journal of Medical Psychology respectively. «FN1.××McDougall (1925a, 1925b).» They both show strong signs of emotion and so I shall continue my castigation of him. «FN1.××See Jones (1927b).»
With kindest greetings, Yours cordially, [Ernest Jones]«FN1.××Not Jones's signature, but signed "Ernest Jones" and initialed by secretary.»
