THE INTERNATIONAL PSYCHO‑ANALYTICAL PRESS
1 August 1922 London W1
Dear Professor,
I shall be sending the general news in a Rundbrief in a day or two, but should like to let you know how the «MDUL»Sammlungen«MDNM» are getting on. I had discussed the matter of the arrangement separately with the three Anglo‑Viennese, but thought it better to have a joint meeting as well, which we did on Thursday evening. We arranged many of the details satisfactorily so as to secure a uniform plan in such matters as foot‑notes, etc. I submitted to them the enclosed programme of the general arrangement of articles, as I had indicated to you in my last letter. Mrs. Riviere did not like the Early and the Late Clinical Papers appearing in the same volume. Strachey felt strongly against the case of Female Homosexuality«FN1.××Freud (1920a).» appearing with the «MDUL»Krankengeschichten«MDNM». If this is transferred to the Clinical Section as well as the Triebumsetzungen (about which I quite agree with your remark) and perhaps also the Zwang‑ und Religionsübung, the balance is once more thrown out.«FN1.××Freud (1917c, 1907b).» I am waiting for Rank's criticisms and am in the meantime preparing an alternative scheme which I will submit to Mrs. Riviere before writing to you about it. It is not easy to secure complete agreement among six people with independent views, but I will try to get as near unity as is possible.
I should be glad to have a line from you on the question of Rickman's Directorship and Johnson's article.
Matters for the Congress«FN1.××7th Congress of the International Psychoanalytic Associaton, Berlin, 25‑27 September 1922.» are proceeding satisfactorily; it will be a heavy undertaking, because of the large number of Papers.
I hope you are having an enjoyable holiday. It is not too hot in London, and we are all very well here.
Tansley is spending the evening with me tomorrow.
With affectionate regards, yours always Ernest Jones
