Dear Professor:

*IP4,0+I have transferred the account from Lippmann, Rosenthal to Lissa & Kann, The Hague (they have no address at Amsterdam),*FN1.AALippmann, Rosenthal, and Co. was a private banking house founded in 1859 with head offices in Amsterdam.  Separate accounts for Jones, Freud, and the Verlag were set up at the smaller firm Lissa & Kann in the The Hague.  Freud's account served as a kind of tax shelter in order to provide for his wife in the event of his death.+ have told the latter that you will send them a certified copy of your signature, in case you did not do this while in Holland.

I start next week with Mrs. Rickman.  In the meantime Rickman is passing a fortnight with me discussing analytic questions, a semi‑analysis of himself.  I do not form such a good impression of his character as I did, though he seems to have developed a good many sublimations and reactions of a social kind.  I am struck by his inner aloofness from the world, and his inability to love strongly.  He must be very difficult to analyse fully, on account of the interesting split in his ego, so that he regards himself almost as an external object, one it is true of the greatest interest.  It reminds me of your homosexual girl and her lorgnon*FN1.AASee Freud (1920a, p. 163).

+~ attitude.  We have just made him an associate member of our society and I have no doubt we shall hear much from him in the future.

Doubtless you got my letter of a few days ago.  I hope you have quite recovered from the strain of the congress and the infection you contracted there.

With kindest regards to you and all  yours always affectionately  Ernest Jones
