Dear Professor,

As I wrote to you last Monday I planned to reach Vienna at 6.3O Wednesday evening.  That would make it easily possible to have an evening meeting if you so wished.  The express train leaves only three times a week so that for me to come earlier and arrive on Tuesday night would mean starting a day and a half earlier, which has various disadvantages.  However, on getting your letter yesterday saying that you would like to see us on Wednesday I immediately changed my tickets to the earlier slow train.  This morning I get a letter from Eitingon saying that he had arranged with you by telephone that our meeting was to be on the Friday, May 7th, so that my change of plans would appear to be unnecessary.  I am therefore once more reversing them and now propose to reach Vienna at 6.3O on Wednesday.

I trust that this will be convenient to you.  But if you would prefer for us to meet in the afternoon rather than the evening please do not hesitate to let me know and I will come by the earlier train.

With all good wishes,  Yours always,  [Ernest Jones]«FN1.××Not Jones's signature, but signed "Ernest Jones" and initialed by secretary.»
