Dear Professor Freud,

This is to introduce Dr. D'Orsay Hecht of Chicago, a well‑known American neurologist.[1]

He has shown great sympathy towards our work, and has helped on the cause considerably in Chicago, though I do not think he has had very much personal experience of ψα.  He was President of the Chicago Neurological Society when I read a paper there,[2]

and on that occasion and many others has shown me every possible kindness.  Going to Europe for a short while he is naturally eager to have the honour of meeting you personally.  Would it be against the rules of your society for him to be present at one of the meetings?[3]

Yours very sincerely  Ernest Jones.
